For the past 24hrs, as preventive measures, minimization of other emergency consequences, firefighting and cleaning areas from the old munitions, 1441 come outs have been made by the emergency response units of the Ministry of Emergencies. Rapid responses to 162 emergencies have been ensured.
As the result of the undertaken measures there were 4 persons rescued, 28 buildings and 6 tractor vehicles saved.
Fire Prevention Measures in the Natural Ecosystems
Under the Government decision an Operational Staff for coordination of activities to prevent forest fires in 2010 was established. The Staff is headed by the acting Minister of Emergencies Mykhailo Bolotskykh.
The Staff has developed the tasks for central and local authorities to prevent people from visiting forests, patrolling and response readiness, directed at preventing the fires.
The regional and district staffs have also been established in Crimea, oblasts, Kyiv and Sevastopol.
The Inter-agency operational group is working around the clock in the MOE to monitor and coordinate the fire situation in the territory of Ukraine, measures and activities of the central and local authorities to prevent forest fires and to provide timely response.
To provide cooperation among the central and local authorities there was organized interagency cooperation at all levels.
The MOE forces in the areas that have high level of fire threat are in high readiness.
6 air vessels are ready to fight the fire, these are: three firefighting planes “AH-32П”, two helicopters Mi-8 with water-discharge equipment from MOE, and a Mi-8 helicopter from “Ukrainian Helicopters” Company.
To provide an observation operation, transportation and works to fight the fires there are 10 air vessels engaged: 1 helicopters from Ministry of Interior, 6 helicopters and 3 airplanes from Ministry of Defense.
Summary of Emergencies
From the beginning of the year, there have been 176 emergencies registered, including 98 emergencies of industrial origin and 78 emergencies of natural origin, in which 232 persons died and 499 persons were injured.
Fires
According to available information for the past 24hrs, there have been 149 fires registered, including 58 fires in the inhabited areas, in which 3 persons died.
Moreover, there was a fire in business facility and 13 vehicle fires.
The fires destroyed 32 buildings, 8 tractor vehicles and 32 tons of forage.
The estimated loss from the fires is 2.452.000 UAH, out of which 409.000 UAH is considered a direct loss.
Munitions Disposal
The total number of munitions found, extracted and disposed by the MOE units for the past 24hrs is 191 pieces of munitions.
Levels of Radiation in the City of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast
The radiation measures are stable. They do not exceed the norms in the ground and in the water. The average radiation level is 0.011 mR/hr in Kyiv, 0.013 mR/hr in Kyiv Oblast, and 0.026 mR/hr in Chornobyl (the acceptable level is 0.080 mR/hr).
